"Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption draweth near" --Luke 21.28
Witness What Scripture Teaches About Judgment, Redemption, and the Coming Day of the Lord
Starting with the prophetic witnesses in the Old Testament which speak of the coming day of the Lord, we will explore Scripture's witness to the challenge and hope of history's conclusion and God's promised judgment of the righteous and the wicked. Why is this concept important? What relevance does Scripture's teaching about end times and a final, sweeping judgment of humanity have for our lives of faith? Too often, such questions are left to the vain (and unbiblical) imagination of leaders on the fringes of the Christian faith.
Our time together will not be wasted trying to concoct some sort of timetable for the coming Day of the Lord. Rather, our efforts will focus on listening to what Scripture teaches us as we look toward an uncertain (and sometimes intimidating) future in hope and faith so that we may be "blameless and innocent, children of God without spot or blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world." (Philippians 2.15)
